I Didn’t Learn this in School!: Managing Classroom Technology in an Academic Library

Without instructional technologists or classroom technology experts on staff, instruction coordinators in academic libraries may find themselves not only leading programmatic planning of their information literacy programs, but also managing teaching labs, along with working to meet their colleagues’ expectations for user-friendly technology. This poster will share how one instruction coordinator has tried to “keep-up” with the continual developments in classroom technology, in the absence of formal training. Talking points will include the transformation of instruction labs from wired to wireless, strategies for recognizing teaching librarians’ technology needs, advice on funding technology, and collaboration with library and university IT departments
