Creating open texts: the experience of a one-person library press

Affordable for students and flexible for faculty, open textbooks are popular for a reason. But, as with any open product, they require dedication and hard work to succeed! Smaller institutions may feel that creating open texts is beyond their reach, but this presentation will show that with a little moxie, determination, and some beginning coding skills, open texts can be within reach of nearly anyone. Open texts also facilitate collaboration between academic departments, as you’ll need people to use the text and to create (or find) content! Throw some assessment in, and you’ve got yourself a one-person library press.
