Giao Luong Baker is the USC Libraries’ Strategic Digital Initiatives Librarian, where she collaborates closely with the Digital Library team and associated USC Libraries personnel to engage researchers, cultural heritage institutions, and businesses toward the objective of developing digital collections and services for the USC Libraries. Since 2004, Giao has been a Digital Imaging Specialist, and more recently the Digital Imaging Manager for the USC Digital Library. In these former roles she has been responsible for the digitization of much of the content in the USC Digital Library. Presently, she is Co-PI on a $200,000 National Endowment for the Humanities grant to digitize the papers of the Webster and Independent Commission records of the 1992 Los Angeles civil unrest. She is a 2016 American Library Association Spectrum Scholar, the sole recipient of the 2016 ALA’s LITA/OCLC minority scholarship, and was recently awarded the 2017 Association of Research Libraries’ Julia Blixrud Scholarship.
